QuickTransit for Solaris/SPARC to Linux/Itanium allows applications that have been compiled for the Solaris operating system and the SPARC processor to run on servers that use the Linux operating system and Itanium2 processor, without requiring any source code or binary changes.

QuickTransit’s breakthrough hardware virtualization technology allows Solaris/SPARC applications to run with the following characteristics:

  • Full Functionality. All the features of an application work as you would expect it to work. Applications also interact with other natively compiled and translated applications as if they were natively compiled.
  • Computational Performance Faster Than the Fastest SPARC Server. Solaris/SPARC applications run faster through translation on the Linux/Itanium2 server than they do on the fastest Solaris/SPARC server and considerably faster than on older Solaris/SPARC servers.
  • Complete End-User Transparency. The invocation, use, and management of a translated Solaris/SPARC application are the same as if it were a natively compiled application. As a result, application users do not need to know whether an application is being translated or is natively compiled.
  • Easy Application Management by System Administrators. The installation and management of Solaris/SPARC applications by the IT systems administrator is easy and transparently supports most existing approaches to application management over a network.
